Chevrolet introduced the Camaro Z28 in late 1998 to regain its grip on the Convertible market. There are 3 trim levels for the Camaro in 1999: Z28 SS and Base. With two doors and spacious seating for four, the rear-wheel drive Camaro makes a statement. There is plenty of competition in the Convertible market, including strong offerings from Honda.

The 1993 Camaro is an important vehicle to Chevrolet for the coupe market segment. The Base is a member of a series of three trim levels for the Camaro which include Indianapolis 500 Pace Car, Z28, and Base. The two-door car with its rear-wheel drive is positioned to aggressively fill this niche for Chevrolet. There is strong competition from vehicles from Lexus.
