Our Take on the 1995 Chevrolet Camaro Z28

The 1995 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 was introduced to compete in the convertible market. There are 2 trim levels for the Camaro in 1995: Z28 and Base. With two doors and spacious seating for four, the rear-wheel drive Camaro makes a statement. There is plenty of competition in the Convertible market, including strong offerings from Toyota.

Chevrolet Camaro Engine Specs

Standard equipment in the Camaro for 1994 and 1995 includes the 5.7 liter engine by General Motors, weighing in at 8 cylinders and sixteen valves. A 4-speed Automatic Transmission puts the power of the Chevrolet engine to the pavement. This is a long-standing favorite for buyers in the Convertible arena.

The fuel system for the 1995 Camaro is a traditional SFI, running on gasoline fuel. The fuel is controlled by an electronic system and is a fuel-injected MFI design. The capacity of the fuel tank is 15.50 gallons.

The front brakes are disc while the rear brakes are disc. Steering is handled through a power-steering rack-style configuration. The Camaro uses power-assisted brakes, with 2-Wheel ABS support. Load balancing is provided by coil front springs and coil in the rear.

Vehicle Statistics

The Camaro is 193.20 inches long, 74.10 inches wide, and 51.30 inches high. It has a wheelbase of 101.10 inches. It is able to seat 4 comfortably.

The original manufacturer suggested retail price (MSRP) was $18,160 when new, with a dealer invoice cost of an industry-low price. This price was in line with the industry average price for a 2-door Convertible.

There is a 50,000* mile, 60* month warranty with this vehicle, including a powertrain warranty of 50,000*/36* miles/months. This is normal for this price range.

Fuel Efficiency

The Z28 made 25 – 26 miles per gallon highway driving, while dipping to 17 in the city. This was a respectable number for the model year, but exceeded by several Toyota models available at the time.

We Think…

The 1994 model began the promise of the Chevrolet Camaro. The 1995 expanded on this success and has proven to be a strong seller in most markets. Even with strong competition from other manufacturers Chevrolet hopes that the Camaro Z28 will continue to be a profitable vehicle.
