The Base made 29 – 30 miles per gallon highway driving, while dipping to 19 in the city. This was a respectable number for the model year, but exceeded by several Acura models available at the time.

The 2000 model began the promise of the Chevrolet Camaro. The 2001 expanded on this success and has proven to be a strong seller in most markets. Even with strong competition from other manufacturers Chevrolet hopes that the Camaro Base will continue to be a profitable vehicle.
